Hey! Who did the awesome ADoM random game banner? I love it!

Edit: Nevermind... I see Tai did it, like every other banner on the site. Great work!  :P

Not EVERY other banner. More than half ar hers, but Tom did a lot of the others (and some they did between them), and I think Kosta did a couple when the site first opened. DeathDude did one recently, too.

Uhm.... What the heck do I do now? :P

I sacrified a dog to my Neutral god (who I'm really close to), appearantly this was a really bad move. Now everything in my inventory is cursed!
That's why it's good to know which monsters are of which alignment.:P Only chaotic deities don't care about the alignment of live sacrifices made to them (but that also means that any random chaotic who walks into the room can sacrifice YOU).

As a rule of thumb, lawful monsters (apart from non-hostile NPCs) are: blink dogs, dwarves, white unicorns and ki-rins.
Neutral monsters include: all vortices, all elementals, barbarians (grey 'K's, not to be confused with berserkers), cavemen, swordsmen, all golemns, all oozes and, most importantly, all animals. (NEVER sacrifice animals to a neutral deity; they don't like that at all.)
All others are chaotic. If you're uncertain, you can always cast the Know Alignment spell on monsters to find out.

I don't know any spell. I'm an illiterate troll, who first got all his inventory cursed - then got the following neat effect (after getting back to positive relations):

"The Orc Chieftain disappears in a grey smoke. You feel that Ne'ffr deeply appreciates your gift. You feel inner peace."
*pray*
"Your silver bracer lights up in a silvery light."
"*I* hereby punish thee, puny mortal!"
All inventory turns to dust.

Then later I sacrificed a Dark Elf (warrior, I believe):

"The Dark Elf something disappears in a grey smoke."
"*I* herby punish thee, puny mortal!"
All inventory turns to dust.
Again.

Wheee!

It's hereby my conclusion that Neutral is the most difficult allignment to play, and that Neutral Gods hate me. *sniff*

Well, you just need to be a bit more careful with life sacrifices (and to avoid unnecessary prayers when your piety is low). If you want to be on the safe side, just sacrifice gold and food. Every deity likes those.:P

I can sacrifice food? :P

Dammit. I have enough food to feed an entire army. Most my food rot away before I have a need to eat it. :P

Good, but if you want to survive on the deeper levels, you need to get much better equipment than that. A PV of 12 is far too low for level 13. You also need to train bows more. Train willpower, toughness and dexterity with herbs if you can and try to take off that girdle of carrying from time to time so you're burdened and able to train strength as well (strength can be trained up to about 15 or 16 that way. If you just rely on the girdle, you'll effectively be missing out on a few points of strength.).

I WAS up to 15 str, which seems to be my maximum, before the Anita incident. I know about needing better armour.

I'm very annoyed about losing my cloak of protection in the ID to a door trap I didn't even kick. I visited the ID to build up weapon skills. Trouble is the ID doesn't have enough monster density to make a good training ground until you get much deeper. All it did was waste time (day 21 already...eeeek) and cost me some equipment.

One thing I'm doing different from my previous characters is that I'm wearing armour. My previous characters were all put off by the modifiers to hit, dam, and DV. I didn't realise how important PV was until I read this thread.

Well, maybe neutral gods hate you, but my neutral gray elf druid is still crowned, alive, and kicking booty. :P

(this is the same character I started oh... 50 pages ago in this thread, after I started a new character with the unbugged game install... I still play her when I get a chance, which doesn't tend to be often)

Heh, my first winner was a randomly generated female grey elven druid.:P

@Tokyo Rose: There's absolutely no need to worry about time passing at this point. If you need to train up weapon skills, take your time to do so. You can continue playing for several years of in-game time if you like and still win the game
As for equipment, any run-off-the-mill [+0, +2] leather armour will be better than your current one, so whichever armour you find and put on, chances are very high it'll be better than the one you're wearing.

@Tom: Yes, you can sacrifice food. Just make sure it isn't corpses of neutral monsters, or it'll have a similar effect to live sacrifices of neutrals...

Got ring mail of order now, but a damned lightning vortex destroyed my Papyrus scroll! And all my Shadows are dead, even the 3 I named Keef  :P .

Teleport if you can, if not, try to kill the summoners (through spells or missiles) and leg it to the stairs.

The papyrus scroll is useless, by the way, so it isn't a great loss. You don't need it to enter the pyramid, it just tells you the gate has been opened, basically.

Name: Gorice              Race: male Gray Elf       Class: Necromancer
Eye color: amber          Hair color: silver        Complexion: pale
Height: 6'7"              Weight: 147 pounds
Age: 292 (grown-up)
Star sign: Candle         Birthday: 25/Candle (day 295 of the year)

YOUR HISTORY:
Your parents are travelling adventurers. They are doing moderately
well but are talented enough to survive.
In your childhood you were tortured by your cruel parents. They
seemed to thoroughly hate and despise you.

In your youth you enjoyed competition against others to the
fullest. You were a very active kid.
As a young adult you left your home because of trouble with your
parents. They opposed your plans for the future without understanding your
wishes. Thus you decided to live on your own.
You wandered through the
country for many years, growing older and wiser and learning many things.
No kidding! Quite logical actually! Being tortured by vagabond parents who hated and despise, no wonder one leaves them behind early! And btw, I might have personally some issues, if my son was showing interest in necromancy... :P May the Dark Side be with you!
