The site is Spanish only, but the newest remake (top download link) is multilingual.
This game is truly legendary here in Spain. More info:

I downloaded it, and had a wee play. It looks nice - love the sound of the footsteps and the bell.
But it was in Spanish, and I had no idea what I'm supposed to be doing.
Is there any way to set it for English language?

Yes, if you downloaded from the top link. It's certainly not obvious, to access all the options, including language, right-click on the window. The settings will be saved to disc between sessions. The options menu itself is in Spanish: "English" is "Inglés". The game can be played in fullscreen--Alt+Enter or double-click or menu to switch--but in fullscreen the menu isn't accessible it seems.
Be warned that you'll still have a hard time at not getting game over let alone beating the game. Everyone will need many tries before succeeding. This a game from 1987 and back then videogames posed very different challenges from current ones. You can save and load games by pressing Esc though. You have to follow the Abbot's orders (unless you manage not to get caught, for example going out of your room at night) and investigate in your spare time; and for this you need to orient yourself in the Abbey, and read carefully what everyone tells you. The "obsequium" bar a the bottom right depletes as you do things wrong, if you don't have any left you're expelled; there are things that get you expelled right away, like not attending mass (and you have a precise spot in the chapel where you must stand). At the bottom left you have the current day (in Roman numerals) and time (as per liturgy), in between there's your inventory (you start with a pair of glasses).
There are walkthroughs, although most or perhaps all in Spanish.

Yeah the Abbot's a nazi.
These ancient games involve lots of trial and error...
This is the spot, one step in front of your disciple:

It's difficult to memorize the layout of the Abbey to move around, you can use these maps (scroll down, the texts are walthroughs):

BTW Space is the "action" button.

By the way, just like you can move the old monk with the up arrow or 8 NumPad or A, you can move his disciple with the down arrow or 2 NumPad or Z; but only within the same screen the preceptor is in. As soon as you depress the key, the disciple returns beside his preceptor. I think this is necessary for some puzzles. Turning is the same for moving either character, left/right or 4/8 NumPad or K/L. Not sure if there are more controls I'm missing, there's no help file whatsoever, and the download I found for the original game doesn't include any either.
Also I didn't mention in this thread that this game (or the 1987 one it's a remake of) is based on Umberto Eco's novel The Name of the Rose, and I guess it's better if you read it or saw the movie.
As I said I can write a review, but besides having to finish some work first, I have never actually played this through. However it's something I want to do, and trying to figure stuff out not just following a walkthrough right away. So it will probably be a while, and I'm not calling dibs, anyone else can take it in the meantime.

I hadn't realised that you could control disciple as well. Thanks for pointing that out Japofran.
It's a fun wee game though
But don't worry about review. If you can make review, that's great. If you can't find the time, cos of your work, or whatever, that's fine too.

I'm so undisciplined I should have known I wouldn't resist playing the game until after the serious stuff was done.
So I call dibs on this, I'll submit a review and screenshots within the next weeks.
