Great game, but I'm having trouble getting past the holo-gen mission. Can someone help me?

I haven't found any acid, but there's a big indestructible red alien following me everywhere and I can't find a way to reach the override switch for the holographic generator.

Well, Immediatly as you enter the room and the beast starts chasing you, jump on the platforms and push the button. Jump over the beast and get through the shooting thing, then climb the ladder and proceed to the dead end. Stand on the edge and allow the monster to get close to you and exactly at the last moment, jump up and the monster falls into the machine.
