They are an okay band not superb or that great, I can name 2 better german heavy metal bands, Kreator and Blind Guardian. 
Both totally destroy Rammstein.

I've never actually heard any of their songs, to be honest, although I know they're hugely popular...

Meh I don't like them, have I mentioned already for 100 times that they're a copy of a Slovenian band Laibach?

I like them, but I don't really know why.
Their lyrics are lewd and brutal and their music is loud,... but for some reason I like them.
There is something odd about Rammstein in that it attracts people that normally wouldn't listen to such a style - like myself.
My favourites are:
"du haßt"
"Morgenstern"
"Reise Reise"
and "Moskau"

They've actually gotten more mainstream with their last album so that will garner more support for them, but probably for the hardcore fans won't be liking that.
