Topic Summary

1. TrackMania Nations and TrackMania Nations Forever are 2 separate standalone games that are mainly for LAN and online play as there are no AI opponents to speak of.

2. TrackMania Nations is 265MB and requires a patch of about 18MB to play online games it's also the older of the two and can work on even older systems but with poor quality graphics and longer load times (think of an XP computer running a 500mhz CPU 128MB ram and 32MB RIVA TNT graphics card)

3.Additional info:I believe there is only one environment that you can play in either game and that is Stadium. Out of the box there is only one car you can race in either game as well (a F1 car), although I think you can download and import additional models later on.

4.One more important thing(On a slightly different topic). The 'Expansion packs' available on the Trackmania website need the full version (ie paid version) of the game to work (IMO) this applies to Trackmania Original and Trackmania Sunrise. (And you can't use the trackmania original expansion pack on the trackmania original game  listed below)

The link to TrackMania Nations is here:

I have not tried Trackmania Nations Forever but the link is here:(506MB)

http://trackmaniaforever.com/

System requirements for TrackMania Nations Forever:

Operating system: Windows XP SP2/Vista SP1/Windows 7
CPU: Pentium IV 1.6GHz / AMD Athlon XP1600+
RAM: 256 MB (XP) or 512 MB (Vista/7)
3D graphics card: 16 MB, 100% DirectX 9.0c compatible
Sound card: 16 bit DirectX compatible
Hard drive: 1.7 GB free disk space

And if you have heard of TrackMania Original there is a very old version (ver1.0) available at gamefront:(No car painting in this version)(165MB)

True, they're both separate games. And the sad part is, you can't use your TM Nations account in TM Nations Forever :ok:

Hehe, old old review.

Just a quick note, TMN:Forever.. and TMN are two seperate stand-alone games.. as far as I am aware!

I'm downloading now, to find out.

I have keyboard and joypad, so I can test both.   :P

EDIT
Okay, I downloaded the game, and tried it.  You can play with keyboard arrow keys, or joypad.  But I found it easier with the keyboard.    :D

That said, I am probably the worst racing driver EVER!!!   :ok:

Couldn't notice anything about the controls... Is it playable with keyboard? Joystick? Pad? Not too eager to dl it if it isn't playable with keyboard as I don't have either stick or pad atm and 500megs is pretty much to just find out...

Immediate edit: Looks cool though!
