I beg your pardon? :)

Anyway, I wasn't engaging in any kiddi-bashing (and neither was Beefonthebone, for that matter). But I do happen know several people who would have been deeply offended by that smiley.

What context can, say, this smilie be used:

;)

Or this one:

;)

Or these:

:P  :P  ;)  :P  :)

Most of these smilies have no real use other than to be fun, and as there is already a Jesus smilie ( ;) ) here it would be incredibly hypocrtical to victimise Kiddi for his blatent joke.

It's really pointless to keep on discussing this, but I do think there's a difference between a bearded Jesus smiley with an aureole and a crucified smiley. One is just silly, but the other is tasteless. Nothing hypocritical about that. Joking is fine, but you still need to keep a certain amount of respect for those people who might not share your idea of a joke.

Erm, do you think so? I find that one mildly offensive, actually.
:)

Well see now, I am a Christian and i don't mind because i don't think of Jesus on that cross right now i just think of some dumb smiley.

And my friend Kiddiarni said that he founded him self in that smiley he was right, because that was his status on this forum!  ;)

On (the) topic: anyone familiar with Roger Penrose's (I think - although it could be Richard Dawkins') concepts of memes and cultural evolution, and the human mind? Great stuff.

Raffles: nope, I wasn't bashing either, just failing to find that "blatant joke" in the least bit amusing.

Of course it isn't. If the cross were upside down, it would be a St. Peter smiley, not a Jesus smiley. ;)

And just why would Kiddi's smiley be offensive?

I mean it's not like Jesus was the first or the last human to have been nailed to a cross...
