where's the best place to scum for one of those khelavaster saving amulets?
If you have the patience, the infinite dungeon. Alternatively, you could try pickpocketing from gremlins in the dwarven graveyard - that's slightly more fun and you can get other nice items that way. Plus it's non-corrupting and doesn't affect your alignment.

I think I got an artifact from pping a gremlin once.  ;)
Do you mean the gremlin cave, though?
Oh, and I don't have the patience for the infinite dungeon.
Not by a long shot.  ;)

No, I mean the dwarven graveyard.;) You get better drops and there's no background corruption. Think dwarven halls minus the nasty side effects. I suppose it's cheating a bit, really, so I'll put the next bit in spoiler tags:

All you need to do is create a water trap in the right spot (once you've got rid of all the skeletons, zombies, ghouls etc, obviously), breed gremlins from a fluff ball and let them spread a bit. After a while you may need a means of invisibility and/or teleportation, though, otherwise you'll have trouble leaving the graveyard from time to time to sell stuff and make sacrifices to keep your deity happy.
The mass-pickpocketing itself is still a bit tedious of course, but with a bit of luck you can get some seriously nice stuff. I've had anything from amulets of life saving, dragon scale armour, rare potions and rings to artifacts. If it can be randomly generated, it can be got in the dwarven graveyard. I even got wands of wishing two or three times.

Ha, nice inventive way to grind for lewt.  ;)

If the dwarven halls' nasty side-effects include, but are not restricted to, the occasional ancient karmic dragon, such a minus is a good thing.

The nasty side effect include anything. Including, but not limited to, a tension room full of highly poisonous quickling queens. Not good.

You can't, though.;) You might be able to take out a few of them but certainly not a whole roomful. It's a bit like fighting a whole bunch of cat lords.

OK that's it, I'm fed up.;) Another promising character gone thanks to the same bloody bug as with the previous one - Windows "encountered a problem" after I gave Khelavaster his stupid amulet (which had taken me ages to come by).
Bleh.

Take the amulet back back.  Sell it on eBay.  That will teach him a leasson.   ;)
