And what's up with all these bands being anti government?
That at least is understandable - "alternative" bands tend to be left-leaning, and us lefties tend to get upset when the most powerful man in the world is a complete idiot who was elected by, well, his brother and Fox News, but believes it was God, then has turned a national surplus into the fastest-growing defecit in decades, altered taxation to disproportionately target the poor, ruined education, destroyed the public's faith in science, alienated the rest of the world after all his predecessor's diplomatic advances, refused to act on climate change and crippled the Kyoto treaty, oh yes, and sent thousands of america and her allies' troops into a number of wars on false pretexts, claiming victory while they continue to be killed over a year later and slaughtering many innocent civilians, INCREASING the threat from the terrorists he claims to be making war on and protecting america from and getting away with it all for some reason.

Sorry, that was very off-topic. Bush is way overrated though.
well that was a way of saying it :P

edit: woah thats a long sentance by the way

Well it's understandable but it seems a lot of the bands that are coming out feel the need to be anti gov and no I don't just mean Bush, I mean greenday, System of a Down coughposermetalcough all anti gov and are they really? That's what I would like to know. :P

Well, those two you mention have been political since they started, a long time before bush became president - I think it's just amplified by the fact that bush is so anger-inducing.

Greenday true enough I would say, there's a few more that I can't quite think up off the top of my head, although it just seems with Bush indeed in office it causes the new bands to think, hey ya know how we get our fan base up, let's be anti government, yeah! We'll be like everyone else bashing Bush! How original :P.

Well the MTV's policy is anti-bush, so that's why they'll obviously propagate bands that are anti Bush...

Honestly couldn't comment on that since don't get MTV up here, but you would think if you want to stand out, you wouldn't just follow the flock with this sort of thing, as popular as it may be.

*chokes* System of a Down? Less political than Greenday? Nary a chance.

Green Day are just trying to get more fans, that's true, but I can't see how you can implicate System of a Down for posing as political.

System of a Down actually left Armenia for political reasons, you don't see Green Day being so angry that they'd move to Canada, do you?

All of these bands making "political statements" probably don't know much about politics outside the fact that Bush is president. Seems like everyone is a smart *** these days. I've seen Greenday interviews on Muchmusic up here and the conversation goes something like this:

Muchmusic: "What about U.S politics is troubling you at the moment?"

Greenday: "George W. Bush"

Crowd: "yay yay yay"

Muchmusic: "Anything in particular you would change?"

Greenday: "I would change George W. Bush"

Muchmusic: "I see"

Greenday: "Bush is bad, hes ruining everything! whaaa I only have 50 million in the bank"

Don't make statements unless you have some solutions or at least vaguely know wtf you're talking about. This attitude soon spills over to the band's fans and you have a new trend on your hands... and we all know how much everyone loves trends! yay

Still it's better that they're bashing Bush than that they're supporting him...
And I agree that System of a Down knows a bit more about politics than many other bands...

It's original when one band does it, but when so many bands do it, it really just starts to get old and it's like yeah yeah we know about Bush. :P
