Hey Guys
For the last week or so I've had the gimp (week and a half, more likely) and have been messing around in it. I've made myself a logo for my little film company, and made 5 "Posters" for friends based on a certain theme.

Sadly, I had to jpeg them for uploadability. The PNGs are much better quality.

My first large piece. I like the way the text came out, but its a tad bland. I actually did a new image for this girl earlier tonight.


And since the first loved hers so much, I made one for her brother ^^


I made one for a guy who came back from holiday today. And to think, earlier today I barely know anything about him. Amazing what 5 hours of questions can do.


I made this for another girl. I dont think the text is as good as it could be (A bit thin and hard to read) but its ok. Infact, I changed the background on the text to a sharper blue, but thats not on this computer right now.


Well, after doing the last 3, I felt guilty about doing such a crap one for the first girl, and so did her this one ^^
Its now her desktop, and her brother's is now his.

I've been tasked to do another one sometime, too.

Hey, I never said I like (have ever watched, understand or know squat about) any of the things in my pictures. I just stick in things the people I do them for like.

Nice for your first imagery, whats with those block photos though?

I've not used Gimp often but it's as powerful as PhotoShop mostly, lacks an easy to use interface.

Have you not found a way to blend pictures?

Its probably more "I haven't looked" yet. I have an idea where to look.

Well, I don't think it'll be just me that thinks they are the worst part of the images. Everything else although a little basic,bland actually looks quite nice. Very good for your first try, really look into blending though.

Taking Sean's ideas, a suggestion or 2 from Tai and a bit off messing around, I got this:

The pictures are still rather squarish, though... But obviously it's a lot better than I could do using any of those programs, so maybe I shouldn't be talking.

That's exactly the reason why I didn't critisize! But great looking pics, if you like that style (I don't, but still they are good for that style).

, like I said, I usually dont care what images I have to put in. ooh, I just reemmbered the crazy Ideas I had for some stuff.. *wanders off to art-ise stuff*

My general process usually is:
Find source pics based on who Im making it for
Stick on a background based on colours they like
Have a large semi-transparent background image
Add smaller images
Add text, then add shadows, glows, borders, etc.
Add a border to the image (If I remember to.. )

And anyway, practise makes perfect

That's good attitude and you're obviously potential, just keep on practising! And nobody's perfect, except me. And I hate people, who can't admit their flaws. I at least would, if I had any!

Did some more work this morning on "A Picture Paints" and "I love Seto" (Which Im thinking of renaming), cutting out the characters, adding borders around the pictures, blending, and so on.


Theres the first one. I added small borders around each of the little images.
I'll upload t'other later, Im off to meet a friend now (Sunlight burns..) and I have a few things I want to change.
