why dont you/we have a "Best Rated" Category? all games from 4.0 on or so... mabye 4.5

there arnt really enough games on the site at the moment for this to be really powerful but once (after a long time) we have over a 1000 games it would be quite helpful so why not put it in now?

actually a new category wouldnt even be needed. you could just click on "All Games" and sort by reviewer rating or/and public rating... would probably be easier and better becuase then you could look for the best games in a specific category also if you wish

i just think alot of people are looking for only the best and it would make it easier. the site is built VERY good and its not hard to find good games pretty quickly but it would just be another help in searching.


(if there is a feature like this sorry... delete the thread. but i looked and the only sorting i could find was: popularity, alphabet, hits and downloads. id add: Reviewer Rating, Public Rating and Average Rating... mabye in another sub sort category)

I think having it as the public's rating would be better, rather than the reviewer's.

i think many would agree and many would disagree. thats why i thought we should have both plus an average. if one is programmed into the site it shouldnt be to hard to do the other two should it? not that i know much about it

Yeah, but then the reviewer might find a game great, but most people might disagree with that, so the average wouldn't be particularly representative.

Maybe having a "reviewer's top ten" and a "the people's top ten" would be a better idea.

i dont think top ten would do much at all really... once you have 20 games rated 5.0 (most likley only looking at reviewers ratings). or 20 games over 4.5 (when looking at public or average ratings) youd just have 10 "equally" good games on the list and another 10 that are just as good but dont appear.

i just dont see why the user shouldnt have the option of all three possibilities so he/she can choose on his/her own.

some want to know what the reviewers think
some what the public thinks
some what the average of the two is
and some (including me) would check all three filters.

That link takes you to an advanced search result page sorted by average rating.

Take advantage of advanced searches, they are good. We don't have filters for all three implemented, but that's the closest we have at the moment, and it basically gives what you're asking for (though the results more than likely aren't exactly desired results - a few reviewers *cough*Tom*/cough* love giving games a perfect 5.0 just for the heck of it (or for the sake of sentimentality) ).

We may decide later to implement a search filter for all three options, but it depends largely on Kosta's time and sanity  - he's the one who has to implement anything related to site code.

Methinks when EoF wrote the review he hadn't quite got the hang of the game yet. But he has seen the light since then.
