I had hopes for this game, only to find out that it's a wargame...

Another deception.

What were you expecting?  "Anacreon picks up the stick.  Anacreon throws the stick to the dog.  The dog fetches the stick.  The Kingdom is saved!"

Better a war game than some stupid adventure.

While I agree with you Triton, Wargames are second only to Adventure in my book. I don't like them.

What I called a deception was to call that game a 4X.

Who called it a 4x?  What is a 4x?  What is so good about adventure games besides using the cds and floppies as coasters?

4x stands for:

eXplore
eXpand
eXploit
eXterminate

It's a sub-genre of strategy games, which includes Civilization and the like.

Flop mentioned it here.

Regarding adventure games, some people like them. It's a personal preference thing.

Any more questions about why some prefer adventures can be answered in this thread.

I called it a 4x game in the punchline, and I stand by that. It certainly qualifies as a 4x game, since it contains all the elements of such a game. It may not be Master of Orion (if that's what you expected), and although it all boils down to waging war, that doesn't make it a wargame. A lot of 4x games are basically about war, and what IMO makes them different from wargames is the fact that, besides waging war, you also manage an empire.

I happen to really enjoy this game, and although some features are a bit too simple, I very much like the economic system of the game.
Furthermore, it is my opinion that Carthage must be destroyed.
