I think my sense of humor gets me in trouble more than anything.

Which is why I don't often make jokes here, and when I do, they're generally of the "lame" variety. I have a tendency to stick my foot in my mouth, and I don't mean any harm, but it can offend people.

I'm a big fan of rules and authority to enforce those rules, either in RL or online.

Of course, I think that online, things have a way of getting blown way more out of proportion more often than IRL (though obviously, people can blow things out of proportion IRL too).

I think that's because IRL, people tend to feel less able to do anything to change the situation. You're just as unlikely to change a situation on a forum, but since forums are viewed as a realm of words rather than actions, I think people tend to FEEL like they can change things by talking. Sometimes, it's possible to have change come as a result of a reasonable discussion, but what tends to end up happening (especially in large groups) is that people just talk loudly over each other and nobody really hears anything - people get upset, and no progress is made. You just can't change someone's opinion by beating them over the head with words.

That's why I think authority on a forum is a good thing - it can keep the discussions from getting out of hand between all the people with different opinions on various matters, and make the environment enjoyable to the majority.

I don't mind authority actually. Except when I'm accused of something I didn't do. Then all breaks are loose.

On all other occasions I just listen to my ''superiors''. I don't need trouble and they don't give me trouble.

Only when they promise me things and recall it later on they have bad luck, because a promise is somewhat holy to me. I'm just going to claim their promise no matter what. (My four week vacation which they resized to two for instance, I went for four. They should have thought sooner about that kind of stuff  )
