I used the search function, and it looks like this topic doesn't exist yet!

So I took the liberty of making one.
What's your favorite movie?

Feel free to discuss just films in general, like, what's your favorite movie? In a genre? Why do you think someone else's choice isn't actually that great a movie? Whatever you want to chat about, it's not like I'm going to kill you or anything. :ok:

To start the topic up, I'll just put a small list of my favorite films, tell me what yours are!

1. About Schmidt
2. The Elephant Man
3. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

Yeh, it's a short list, but I think you'd agree those are at least somewhat good flicks :(

Top 3 should be doable - I'm terrible for changing my mind every 5 minutes though :ok: In no particular order:

Shaun of the Dead
The Incredibles
Donnie Darko

I also love Wallace and Gromit: TCotWR, Almost Famous, A Life Less Ordinary, Amelie, The Big Lebowski, Being John Malkovich, This is Spinal Tap, the Muppet movies and the Python films (except maybe Meaning of Life, which only the first half of is any good.

I agree with Beef, Donnie Darko is one of my favorites.

I've never seen Shaun of the Dead, but I'd like to.

And, I absolutely love Boondock Saints.

For a more "bizarre" choice, I like a lot of asian films. Tampopo is interesting, and The Pillow Book is another one I like.

Gladiator is my all time favorite, and not just for all the gore - it has a layer of meaning behind everything that most action films don't have. As for any others... too hard. :ok:

If we're talking Donnie Darko, I have to say not to bother with the Director's Cut - it completely ruined the mystique and my whole perception of the film.

I agree... one of the few examples of the director not always knowing what's best :ok:

:( I loved Gladiator as well.
The ending was really sad as well... maybe not "sad" actually, since he was reunited with his family, but it still made me sniffle.

Saving Private Ryan is one of my favorite movies (maybe not my nr 1 but in the top) because it is the only movie I have "cried" (at least had a moment when you say "I just got some dust in my eyes"). It is the only movie I felt so connected to (don't know why) even if the ending scene and other scenes in Lord of the Rings Trilogy where more dramatic it did not affect me so much.

The only movie that's ever made me cry was Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, at the end when Spock is in the radiation chamber having his final conversation with Kirk... Ah, that confounded logic of Spock always gets me... (so I'm a nerd...  :ok: )

I'm older than you Moogle.  :ok:

Who here saw Silent Hill yet?
It's incredibly flawed but I believe it's a great movie, certainly the best video-game adaption yet.
