You get the chip by trading illegal stuff to two brothers in the bar (Trafalgar), iirc. For escort missions I like to have turret and that's it. You usually don't need more than that. That freighter is actually quite good for escort missions, because it has guaranteed turret.

Just got myself to 8th system scoring over 24k. Making repeatedly stupid mistakes, actually. Like carrying around military weapon, which costed me 22,800 credits, and which was confiscated in one port... :P

This game has huge potential, but it ends up in total mess, as the game speed is pretty fast and at worst enemies come hundreds at a time. A little less hassle and more tactical element and this would be gem. Now, I'm going remove it...

The latest version of Transcendence (0.97a) came out a few months ago, and i'd like to say if you have any questions about or need help on the game feel free to ask on either the official or unofficial forums, or email the developer at transcendenceATneurohackDOTcom.

The Transcendence page on Wikipedia is now up, though is still in the making and pretty small, but we hope it'll catch some more players and people onto the forums.

What are you doing, standing around in the middle of the (star) system for half an hour? There's only one system in the entire game where it's possible (unless you do stand around) to have hundreds of enemies coming after you, and that's Charon, the pirate capital system (which has changed a lot in recent versions).

Said Wikipedia page is now completed, though we need some good screenshots to spice it up.

There's also now a site with general information on the game, such as the timeline, different sovereigns (races/factions), etc. here.

I'd like to point out that on the page for this game it states that one of the negative points is that it has "No real story to the game". This is not true. While the story may not be well-conveyed inside the game (though there are references to it, such as at the Sisters of Domina stations and at Point Juno), there is plenty of outside material, particularly on the main website and the website I pointed out above. Adding more storyline-relate stuff to the game itself is on the to-do list, however.
There is also a Transcendence wiki , which you can find here.

Very cool game, kind of like a Star Control 2 mixed with a little Nethack and even a speck of Elder Scrolls. I just played for a few minutes ago and my impressions are very, very good.

And Anacreon is one of my favorite freeware games. That dude is a genius, he's making all kinds of good stuff.
I have been informed that today is, in fact, opposite day, and what you've written there is absolutely true so you should probably just go.
Rabbleous rabblerousers. Christ on a bike. Quite naturally people took you for a lunatic. Your only salvation now is complete rest.

Aye, George (George Moromisato, the maker+developer ) certainly seems intelligent. He's also pretty friendly, and actually talks to people on the forums (though he's RL (Real Life) problems lately and hasn't had as much time as he used to), which generally different than some developers.

Version 0.99c is out for some time now, with version 1.0 undergoing its final stages of development (i.e. release candidates being tested by the Transcendence forum members).

Transcendence is one of my favorite freeware games of all time. Simple controls, wide universe to explore, and the ability to do whatever you want. :P
