I don't use torrents because I don't want other people accessing my computer, and P2P allows people to get a lot of pirate software.
I see myself as a respectable-ish person in terms of my games (I buy all games but abandonware), but I think that if I was given the opportunity, I might get into warez.
Which is not something I would want.
I want the games industry to expand and be more creative, as the only games that make money now are bloody film tie-ins, sequels, or Sims 2 expansion packs.
I think that if I buy games which are innovative and such, and change peoples' "buying" habits (friends etc.), the producers of such games will get some money in their pockets, then this will encourage them to make more games.
And isn't that actually what you want from a game?
Something that's fun to play?
